Florida Prepaid Open Enrollment Ends 2/28/17
Florida friends, there are only a few days left in the 2016-2017 open enrollment period for Florida Prepaid! Plans can ONLY be purchased during the annual open enrollment period, so if you miss your chance this time around, you’ll have to wait until the fall to sign up – and you’ll miss out on a whole year of college savings.
You can visit www.MyFloridaPrepaid.com to learn about plan options and to answer any questions that you might have. And don’t forget to use promo code BLOG1617 to save 50% ($25) on your enrollment fee.
Fact or Fiction?
If you’re still on the fence about whether Florida Prepaid is right for you, perhaps I can help by dispelling some common myths.
MYTH #1: If my student decides to go to an out-of-state university, we will lose our Florida Prepaid investment.
TRUTH: This is one of the biggest misconceptions about prepaid college plans. The truth is that Florida Prepaid isn’t restricted to Florida schools; the amount covered by your Prepaid Plan can be used at schools nationwide.
MYTH #2: If I move out of Florida, I will forfeit our Florida Prepaid savings plan.
TRUTH: I can tell you from firsthand experience that this isn’t the case at all. If you move out of Florida after purchasing a Prepaid Plan, your child will still be billed at in-state tuition rates when using their plan at a Florida college or state university.
MYTH #3: If my child doesn’t go to college, I’ll lose all of my prepaid plan savings.
TRUTH: Actually, if your child doesn’t go to college, you can get your Florida Prepaid savings back. You also have the option of changing the beneficiary of the Prepaid Plan.
