Spartan Race is providing one free race entry for a giveaway at no cost to me. Please see my Disclosure Policy for more information.
This isn’t a post about hot shirtless men. But if these are the photos Spartan Race wants me to share with you…well, who am I to complain, right?
The Spartan Race series is coming to Miami, Florida this April 12th & 13th at Oleta River State Park. There’ll be mud. Sweat. Maybe even some tears. You’ll be challenged to step outside of your comfort zone and to test yourself in ways that you never imagined. And when you finish, you’ll be a filthy, achy, exhilarated mess who feels capable of conquering the world.
Does this sound like your idea of fun? Then read on.
What is a Spartan Race? Simply put – it’s a hard core obstacle race series. Spartan races take place all over the world and are designed to test your athleticism, endurance, and strength in the face of diversity. They aim to challenge your perception of normal by bringing you back to your ancient roots – to a time when running through woods, getting dirty, and facing adversity was part of everyday life.
Are there different levels of Spartan Races? Yep. All 4 will probably kick your butt – the type of race you choose will determine the severity of the butt-kicking.
- Spartan Sprint – Entry Level (3+miles and 15+ obstacles)
- Spartan Super – Intermediate Level (8+ miles and 20+ obstacles)
- Spartan Beast – Advanced Level (12+ miles and 25+ obstacles)
- Spartan Ultra Beast Marathon – Extreme Level (99.9% need not apply!)
Both events in Miami are Super Spartan races.
Confession: I’m kind of a wimp. But this video gave me chills and actually made me consider signing up for a Spartan Race. And not even (just) for the hot shirtless men.

Been wanting to do one of these! Definitely think I would start out with the Sprint though…the obstacles make me nervous!!
Teresa M. says
I’d choose a sprint or a super. I’m not sure.
DisBroad Summer @RunningwithPixies says
I’m definitely more of a sprint kind of girl!

I’ve run quite a few OCR’s but Spartan’s are the best. A Spartan is also responsible for the only race i’ve never finished. I competed in the Vermont Beast World Championships last year and had to be taken off the mountain after 7 hours and only making it 9 miles. I’d love to get back there and finish what I couldn’t last year.
James says
I’d love to win an entry!

We did the Tampa Spartan in February. Oh.. so tough. Miami is becoming more and more tempting….
Alberto says
I would do the Ultra Beast. It’s the only one left to conquer…not counting the Death Race!
sharon says
Okay, now that’s impressive. You’re one of those muddy, bloody guys in the photos, aren’t you? π

I just finish one over the weekend and I would love to do one again. I got an email for the Miami Spartan Race and I want to do it but it doesn’t land on the days that I would be in Miami.
You should think about signing up for one. It’s very rewarding. π
sharon says
Congrats! Did you do it with a group? Maybe I could pull it off with a group of friends who were less wimpy than me… π
Heather says
Love your blog!! I just ran my first Sprint in Georgia and it was amazing!! I want to earn my Trifecta so winning an entry to a Super would be fabulous!!

Wow, a Super – impressive! π Have you done other obstacle/mud/warrior types of runs?
Lindsay M. says
I would love to win an entry! I just finished my first Spartan Sprint on Sunday! I can’t wait for the next one.
sharon says
Congratulations!!! I’m hearing such great things…perhaps it’ll go on my bucket list after all. π
Lindsay M. says
You should really do it! The only real downside is the traditional mud pit, it took about a 2 hour long shower to fully wash out the mud from my hair. But my hair is down to my hips so there is quite a lot of it.
Neatly-Packaged (@Neatly_Packaged) says
