Thank you to Girls Gone Sporty and Pretty Muddy for sponsoring today’s conversation.
Candy Runs. Color Rains. Reindeer Runs. Hot Chocolate Runs.
Fun stuff, right?
But what about Mud Runs? Have you done one?
To be perfectly honest, I’m on the fence about them. I’m not really crazy about getting dirty, let alone muddy. I don’t even like getting sand stuck to my flip flops at the beach. Pretty much the only kind of uncleanliness that I can tolerate is sweat. So mud? Yeah, not so sure.

But I was just scrolling through the photos from Pretty Muddy…and I think every single participant is covered in mud from head to toe…and grinning from ear to ear. So maybe there’s something to this mud run thing after all? Hmmm.
Pretty Muddy actually sounds like a lot of fun, mud and all. It’s an untimed, women-only 5K and obstacle run. Teams, costumes, and laughter are encouraged. And it ends with an awesome post-race party with live music, prizes, giveaways, and a finisher’s medal for all participants. So basically it’s like a Girls Night Out, except in the morning and with mud. There’s also a family edition, so your kids (ages 6 and up), boyfriends, husbands, neighbors, and even grandpas can join in on the fun too.

As of right now, Pretty Muddy has four events on the schedule for 2014:
- Dallas, TX – 4/26/14
- Sacramento, CA – 5/3/14
- Chicago, IL – 8/16/14
- Richmond, VA – 9/20/14
And here’s the part that I love the most. Pretty Muddy is giving away 250 free entries to breast cancer survivors for each of these events!!! This cause is close to my heart – if you follow this blog, then you know that I’m running the Breast Cancer Marathon (the 26.2 with Donna) next weekend.
So are you down for a muddy good time? Use the promo code GIRLSGONESPORTY when you register for Pretty Muddy and save $5 on your entry fee. If you’re a breast cancer survivor and you’re interested in signing up for Pretty Muddy, visit their Charitable Partners page for more information about a free entry.

Good luck in the race! I know I don’t like to get muddy either, but for a good cause, I would consider it 😉
