Thank you to Vocalpoint and DICK’s Sporting Goods for sponsoring today’s conversation. As always, all opinions are my own.
Last month, I wrote about shopping at DICK’s Sporting Goods with my kids. You may recall that it went something like this:
…and this:
DICK’s has recently remodeled their women’s department with wider aisles to better accommodate kids and strollers. They’ve also paired outfits throughout the department, just in case you need a little style inspiration.
They’re not kidding about the wider aisles, either. Check these out:
I love that DICK’s has made these changes specifically with moms in mind. Anything that makes sports, fitness, and healthy living more accessible to moms is a win in my book. Moms – have you ever avoided certain stores because you knew that your double stroller wouldn’t fit in the aisles? I have (back when I had a double stroller). And have you ever stopped shopping at a store because you could tell that your kids were not welcome there? I have. I can think of one sporting goods store in particular that I no longer patronize because the staff would give me the stink eye every time I walked through the door with my kids in tow.
I’m an athlete, which means that I need to shop for clothes and sporting gear. I’m also a mom, which means that my kids go where I go. If my kids aren’t welcome in your store, you won’t find me there either. Period.
Rant over. Anyway, DICK’s has scored major points in my book for their upgrades to make shopping easier for moms & kids. With that said, even with all the accommodations in the world, every mom knows that there’s nothing quite like shopping ALONE. Ahhhh…it feels heavenly, doesn’t it?
So this week I treated myself to another trip to DICK’s – this time without kids. I admired, I browsed, I searched the clearance racks, I took as long as I wanted in the fitting room. Such a lovely hour!
Next time you’re at DICK’s, make sure you check out the CALIA line by Carrie Underwood. There are some gorgeous pieces, and I even found some of them on clearance for 50% off.
So my DICK’s shopping adventure stops here…for now. I’ll be back though, probably with a couple of restless & rambunctious kiddos in tow. Not sure how it’ll go, but least I know we’ll be welcome at DICK’s.
I'd love to hear your thoughts...
