Because wordless isn’t really my thing.
Plus I’m sick (blech) and now seems like a good time to play computer catch-up, and I need words for that.
I’ve got a bit of a double whammy here – I caught a cold from one daughter and a touch of a stomach bug from the other, so I’m a big gross mess right now. I guess it’s good that I’m getting it over with now, since we’ve only got two weeks left before summer and lots of school stuff coming up.
Plus I’ve got quite a bit of travel coming up: Vermont (family thing), back to Israel (more on that in another post), and probably one last trip to Universal Studios before the Florida resident blockout dates start. Oh – and my sister and I are going to Fort Lauderdale for a New Kids on the Block concert. Squee! I was a HUGE fan back in their heyday, and it’s been at least 25 years since I last saw them in concert, so it’s going to be a lot of fun. (Ugh, I can’t believe it’s been 25 years since I’ve done anything. How did this 40 thing happen again?)
Anyhow, it’s going to be a busy summer, and I’m looking forward to spending it with my girls. (I reserve the right to redact that statement in 6-8 weeks.)
In the spirit of catching up, I’ve got a handful of things to share with you.
Tenet Ticker Tips
First, Tenet Florida Physician Services (TFPS) asked me to share their Ticker Tips campaign with you. I think you’ll find it helpful.
TFPS is a multi-specialty physician group with 100+ physicians including specialists, sub-specialists and primary care doctors, all based in the South Florida area. The Ticker Tips campaign was developed by their cardiologists as a way to share information and promote heart health. They did this with a series of 28 videos, each with a different heart (aka, “ticker”) health tip. The videos are very short (22 seconds each), and each directs the reader to a page where the tip is explained in detail by a physician.
I’m having some technical difficulties posting an example of one of the videos here, so for now I’ll share this link, which will take you to all 28 videos: facebook.com/tfpsdocs/videos. Take a minute to read through some of the tips – there’s some really good info there, including some stuff that I’d never heard before.
You can also find all 28 Ticker Tips on tickertips.tfpsheart.com/ and you can connect with them on Twitter at twitter.com/TFPSDocs.
Ka’Chava
Have you heard of Ka’Chava? It’s a vegan protein powder, but it’s so much more too. It’s loaded with “tribal superfoods” like chia seeds, maca root, maqui berry, amaranth, acai berry, and more. It’s also 100% vegan with no animal products and no allergens such as gluten, dairy or soy.
As I’ve shared before, protein powders aren’t really my thing. But I’ve read some incredible reviews about it, particularly from a number of vegan bloggers. And if you want to try it for yourself, Ka’Chava is giving away a full-size container of their product (either chocolate or vanilla) to one of my readers. Each container includes 15 servings of Ka’Chava and retails online for $69.95. Just follow the instructions on the Rafflecopter below to enter.
Stuff you should know before you enter the giveaway —> * This giveaway is open to US residents only. You must be 18+ to enter. Winner will be notified via email and given 48 hours to respond. If the winner does not respond within 48 hours, a new winner may be selected. Mommy Runs It is not responsible for prize fulfillment. Giveaway ends 6/3/15 at 11:59 p.m. EST.*

One more thing to pass along – Spartan Race has released a limited-time discount code that will give up to $40 off of race registration. Just use the code MEMORIAL when you register online and save $20 off a Sprint, $30 off a Super, and $40 off a Beast.

I’ve never tried Ka’Chava but would like to give it a shot. The only protein powder I’ve ever tried was one as a Smoothie King mix in and it made me feel bloated. Since that incident, I’ve been a little scared to try them again but see the benefit of them and would love if this one would work for me!

I didn’t even realize that Universal Studios had Florida resident blockout dates. It makes sense because Disney World does too, but I didn’t think about it.
I’m so excited to see NKOTB!!! 🙂

They do for the Power Pass. Not sure about the other passes. It’s actually for almost the entire summer, which stinks a little – but it gets so miserably hot that I’m not sure that we’d go during the summer anyway.

I have not tried it, but I would love to. Right now I am using Organic Naturals protein powder. Thank you for the wonderful giveaway.
