Last night at The Cheesecake Factory, my 5 year old taught us some of the lesser known rules of dining etiquette. You’ll want to be sure to avoid these embarrassing faux pas:
- Don’t spit.
- Don’t put salt and pepper on your tongue.
- Don’t put your mouth on the table.
- Don’t smell other people’s socks.
- Don’t pee in your pants.
- Don’t put your feet or elbows on the table.
And with that, ladies and gentlemen, I bring you the next Miss Manners.

Thanks. π She makes us laugh every day.

These are all good tips. My boys would be the ones under the table smelling peoples socks
sharon says
Yep, mine too. But they didn’t have to go under the table to smell her socks. I swear, they were so bad we could smell them from our seats. Poor little thing. π

I love a childs perspective, it makes it so simple. Thanks for sharing.
sharon says
So true. I love how she just says what’s on her mind. No filter, no pretense. (And no tact, but what’re you gonna do?)

Too cute. When my husband asked my five year old if he liked feeding the ducks, my son said “Actually, they’re goose.” it was cute to see him try to correct dad with bad grammar and all. I love this age. Don’t you?
sharon says
Ha! That’s cute. It’s such a great age! She has no filter and is full of questions. π

So funny and very cute. I love this list of great etiquette . LOL
sharon says
Make sure you bookmark it. You wouldn’t want to forget and pee in your pants at the dinner table. π

lol More manners are needed desperately. This was super cute.
sharon says
Thanks. π I really need to carry a notebook around with me all the time. I always think, “I need to write this down!” and then the thought vanishes in the mommy mush brain.

That’s funny! Everyone needs to be reminded to not smell other people’s socks at mealtime!!
sharon says
The funny thing is that we were able to smell her socks without even trying. π Stinky feet! That’s why she made that rule.
Mom says
Why am I not surprised!!
sharon says
Because we know the types of things that come out of that little one’s mouth! π
